FOUNDRYARTCENTRE

what is it?

Block Party centers on a unique and over-the-top method of printmaking using a

steamroller.

Regional artists are commissioned to carve images on large woodblocks.

Grafik House USA print artists roll ink onto these blocks, canvas is laid on top, and then the whole thing is run over with a steamroller, creating a one-of-a-kind print.

why we do it

The Foundry Art Centre connects people with the arts through exhibitions, studio artists, performances, & education.

Block Party fits perfectly into our mission. As a vibrant home to the arts, the Foundry Art Centre raises awareness and appreciation of the arts throughout the region.

The public’s active participation in events such as this continues to make the Foundry successful in our mission. Further, our arts and exhibitions programs place a special emphasis on the extraordinary talent of our region’s artists.

we're growing

The Block Party has become the Foundry’s signature art event. It’s an amazing opportunity for us to bring attention to the art of printmaking and shine a spotlight on printmakers throughout the region.

Sponsorships help to sustain this incredible event, now entering its fourth year. We welcomed more than 3000 guests in 2022, and 4000 in 2023, included more artists and activities with each year, and hope to grow this event in a meaningful way for our community and the artists we support. We can only do that with the support of generous partners. This thing is going places. Join us!
